One of the grant recipients, 1st grade teacher Karen Vogt, will put her $500 grant project to use next month.

On Dec. 5 and 12, Mrs. Vogt’s first grade students at Temecula Luiseño Elementary will have the opportunity to interact with an author via a distance learning video conference.

During the video conference, students will take part in a presentation titled, “Discovery Time with Mrs. Goose: Winter Wonderland.”

Students will engage in several activities including a vocabulary game, a mystery rhyming game, a draw and tell story and a directed writing activity. The class will interact with Mrs. Goose by discovering mystery words and using these words to make a book. They will conclude with a memory game and letter/word recognition practice.

There are two video conference dates that will take place:

Wednesday Dec. 5 from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. and Wednesday Dec. 12 from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m., in Room 23 at Temecula Luiseño Elementary School.

The school is located at 45754 Wolf Creek Drive North in Temecula.
